The beast in the photo is Rocky, a 40-inch lobster that was caught in Maine. He was released back into the wild yesterday.
He weighed a ridiculous 27 pounds (12.2kg) at the time of his capture.
That’s roughly the size of a 3-year-old child.
Lobster’s don’t stop growing if you let them! They get bigger every year. LOBSTERS COULD BE FREAKIN IMMORTAL if they tried hard enough. (okay not really but some scientists say they could “live indefinitely” if disease and injuries weren’t an issue which is almost as neat?)
Also I used to work at a camp where whenever I’d walk through the kitchen to clear dishes or get food one of the dishwashers would put on red silicone mitts and say over and over again “Lydster lobster Lydster lobster Lydster lobster.” He was Polish and perfecting his English, bless his heart.
